77,000 tons of tea of which 2,300 tons are matcha

Out of a total of 20,000 tea farmers, the Nishi family is one of only a few hundred who grind their tea leaves to produce matcha.

Two more weeks. Nishi can sense it in the tips of his fingers: two more weeks and the leaves are ready to be picked.

For five generations, members of Nishi’s family have been honing their sense of tea.
